We have an exciting opportunity in our Thames Valley (Reading) offices for candidates with at least eight years' planning experience. The role is Associate Director - Planning Director level, for candidates who have a strong track record working on medium/large scale planning projects. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience gained in planning consultancy, local government or through an in-house planning role with a developer or land promoter.

Our planning teams work with all sectors of the planning and development industry to assist in formulating and implementing development schemes.
You would be involved in a variety of (mostly private and some public sector) projects particularly on the promotion of development schemes through Local Plans and planning applications. Your workload will be broad in scope and involve shaping and assessing the case for development projects, including: determining planning strategies; preparing planning applications and appeals; site appraisals; development plan representations; and planning project management. You will take a lead on providing advice and guidance on planning and land use to a variety of clients including leading house builders, developers, land promoters, investment institutions, retailers and other occupiers, as well as local planning authorities throughout all stages of the planning process.
You will report to a Senior Director, and will supported by and manage Planners/Senior Planners in your team, as well as our specialist teams including Economics, Heritage, EIA and Policy & Law. You will assist in the management of the office and staff and play a leading role in marketing and business development; a track record of work winning would be beneficial.

We will expect all candidates to have chartered membership of the RTPI, an RTPI accredited town planning qualification at Masters level (A RICS accredited qualification (planning & development route) would also be acceptable), at least a 2:1 or equivalent at first degree level, and full information on A level, GCSE (or equivalent) and other qualifications should be provided.
Candidates must demonstrate a very high level of technical competency, and quality of work, carried out with minimal supervision, together with good analytical, communication, interpersonal, and writing skills. The role will require working on a number of projects, so a proven ability to manage your own time and workload within tight timescales, and ability to problem solve is critical. You will also have market credibility with a proven ability to win new work and clients, and nurture existing client relationships to win repeat business.
