    Lichfields is the pre-eminent planning and development consultancy in the UK, and is a great place to work. We know this is because of the quality of our people, and recognition as one of the ‘Best Places to Work in Property’ by Property Week magazine. Our people are central to our success. They are bright, creative, committed and adaptable whilst remaining focused on delivering the highest levels of planning excellence. You will be providing advice to some of the UK’s best companies on some of the most exciting and challenging projects. In return, you will work in a culture that is dynamic and highly innovative, sharing in many benefits.

    We are looking for a talented Senior Planner or an Associate Director, who can provide advice to a variety of clients including leading house builders, developers, landowners, infrastructure providers, and investment institutions as well as local planning authorities.  You will have 4 or more year’s relevant experience in either a private or public sector planning role.  Experience or an interest in Environmental Impact Assessment is desirable.

    You will have proven experience in the following work areas; planning applications and appeals; site appraisals; planning strategies; development plan representations and providing advice and guidance to clients throughout all stages of the planning process.

    You will be expected to show an excellent standard of written and spoken English, with good analytical skills and interpersonal skills. The role will require working on a number of large-scale complex projects, so a proven ability to manage your own time, workload and problem solve is critical.  You will also be able to demonstrate market credibility and the skills required to innovate and win new work/clients, as well as nurture existing client relationships to win repeat business.

    Reporting to Planning Director / Senior Director, you will have good interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and manage more junior members of staff.  As an Associate Director you must demonstrate a very high level of technical competence, and quality of work, carried out with minimal supervision.

    Minimum requirements are:

    • at least 2.1 at first degree level;
    • RTPI accredited town planning qualification.  A RICS accredited qualification (planning & development route) or IEMA accredited qualification would also be acceptable.  This will be at Master’s level.
    • MRTPI qualified.

    In your cover letter or CV please state your subjects and grades at A-level and GCSE level (or equivalent qualifications).
