    We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Planner or Senior Planner, with 1-5 years’ experience, who can give advice to a variety of clients including leading infrastructure providers, operators, developers and investment institutions as well as local planning authorities.

    You will have experience working on projects involving major or nationally significant infrastructure. An interest and/or experience in the aviation sector would be desirable as you will join a small team to advise clients in the public and private sector on airport operational and related development.

    You will work alongside Lichfields colleagues with specialist skills in airport planning, economics, masterplanning, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Development Consent Orders (DCO), Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO) and heritage - to shape development projects. You will demonstrate your ability to work as part of a large multidisciplinary team, and engage in the following areas of work:

    • Planning applications and appeals;
    • Development plan and other policy representations including national policy;
    • Airport safeguarding;
    • Part 8 submissions under the General Permitted Development Order.

    Responsibilities

    You will have proven experience in the following work areas: Environmental Impact Assessment; applications and appeals; site appraisals; planning strategies; development plan representations and providing advice and guidance to clients throughout all stages of the planning process. 

    You will need to demonstrate a high level of technical competence and quality of work, carried out with minimal supervision. You will be expected to have a high standard of written and spoken English, with good analytical and interpersonal skills. You must be able to work on a number of projects and demonstrate the ability to manage your own time and workload. You will have market credibility and show a proven ability to win new work and clients, and nurture existing client relationships to win repeat business.

    Qualifications

    Minimum requirements are:

    • A 2.1 degree at first level degree;
    • RTPI or RICS accredited town and planning qualification, or a related qualification in aviation or EIA (this will be at Master’s level).
