Lichfields is the pre-eminent planning and development consultancy in the UK, and is a great place to work. We know this is because of the quality of our people, and recognition as one of the ‘Best Places to Work in Property’ by Property Week magazine. We are looking for an Urban Designer to join our team in London. For the right candidate this is a varied and exciting opportunity.
Our work is primarily related to residential led developments; ranging from large scale masterplans to small infill schemes. Therefore we need someone with a real understanding of layouts and equally capable of working at the larger masterplan scale or dealing with local design issues. However our design team does undertake a wide range of work related to other land uses. The projects can require the preparation of urban design guidance, design & access statements, feasibility and capacity studies.
Our urban design team also undertakes specialist studies; these include, for example, visual and townscape impact work often as part of an environmental assessment. We also prepare expert evidence for planning appeals. Accordingly a methodical and analytical approach with strong report writing skills are required along with design flair.
For this post we expect the appropriate individual will have at least a couple of years' experience, working mainly as an urban designer.
You will be producing high quality visualisations by hand and electronically. You will need to have excellent urban design skills and the ability to produce drawings and visual representations in order to communicate projects.
We need an individual who is confident using a range of software packages including AutoCad, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
