We are looking for a talented Planner - Senior Planner who can give advice on planning and land use to a variety of clients including leading retailers, developers and investment institutions as well as local planning authorities.

Responsibilities

Ideally you will have at least 2 years’ experience working on a range of projects including development management.

You will have proven experience in the following work areas; planning applications and appeals; site appraisals; planning strategies; development plan representations and providing advice and guidance to clients throughout all stages of the planning process.

Successful candidates will be able to show an excellent standard of written and spoken English, with good analytical skills and interpersonal skills. The role will require working on a number of projects, so a proven ability to manage your own time, workload and problem solve is critical.

Ideally, you will also be able to demonstrate the skills required to market, win new work and innovate as these are important elements of this role.

 

You must be able to:

  • demonstrate a good standard of written and spoken English, with good analytical skills and interpersonal skills;
  • have the ability to work on number of projects and demonstrate your ability to manage your own time and workload;
  • carry out professional work of a high quality with limited supervision;
  • deal directly with clients on jobs, whether by telephone or at meetings, and gain the confidence of a range of clients and associated consultants;
  • market yourself and Lichfields and contribute meaningfully to marketing and winning new work;
  • form effective networks;
  • organise and manage your work programme effectively and efficiently and provide support to senior staff;
  • demonstrate a responsible attitude to work and a proven understanding and demonstration of the importance of deadlines and client care;
  • identify issues and consult in good time.
  • demonstrate a clear understanding of when to consult with senior staff to maintain quality control;
  • manage your own time within budget constraints and work efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications

We are looking for high calibre candidates with:

  • ideally (but not essentially) 1-2 years experience working in the private sector;
  • MRTPI qualified;
  • A first or second degree qualification in economics, statistics, geography, planning or equivalent; and
  • at least 2.1 at first degree level.
