We are looking for a Spatial Analyst/Research Consultant to work within our Newcastle economics team, supporting our Senior Housing Consultant.  You will be involved in a variety of private and public sector projects to support the strategic planning work of Lichfields and to advise clients independently on socio-economic projects.  You will also be undertaking demographic modelling and socio-economic analysis, underpinning Lichfields economics and analytics offer on projects across the North East.

 

Responsibilities

Workload is likely to comprise: objective assessments of housing need; demographic analysis; labour market and socio-economic analysis; area-based economic and regeneration studies and other research.  Clients will include residential developers as well as Local Authorities and government bodies.

 

Core competencies for the Spatial Analyst/Research Consultant include excellent analytical and numeracy skills. It will be an advantage to have familiarity using demographic datasets (e.g. Sub-National Population Projections, household projections, fertility and mortality statistics) and other socio-economic sources and datasets.  Experience or an interest in using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) would also be an advantage.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements are:

  • At least a 2.1 in social sciences, statistics, geography, economics, planning or equivalent;
  • Excellent report writing, analytical and numeracy skills.

Experience in consultancy and/or a good commercial focus will be an advantage, but is not essential.
